A Little Diamond
Written by: keep_on_believing

I am going to tell you a story about my best friend. When I told her that I wanted to write about her, she asked me not to tell everybody her name. That’s why, here, I will call her “Miracle” instead. She is small and shy but her spirit is as shining as the sun.
That was a beautiful afternoon with tiny “sunshine-drops” jumping and playing naively here and there from the clouds down to the leaves of the trees in our school yard. And that was also a special afternoon when we had fewer periods than usual so Miracle and I promised to meet at the school gate and go home together. Oh! I forgot to tell you that Miracle and I were not from the same class, we often had different periods and we had few chances meeting each other after class.
But things were not always as what we had expected. That afternoon, my class decided to have a small convention and I could not manage to tell Miracle about that. The convention was so “small” that it lasted for an hour and a half! And during that time, a heavy rain was pouring. Who had known that rain could come in such a brilliant afternoon like that? I thought of Miracle. She must have gone home. Oh, poor me, I lost a chance to go and talk with her again.
When I went out of my classroom, I did not want to go back home. But I believed in miracles (and Miracle also). Then, when the school gate was left behind, in front of me was the face of my sweet friend, Miracle. You can not know how happy I was. I clasped her with sudden haste. If I had been her, I would have gone home alone. I was such a mean girl and I was so small in front of her. When I asked her the reason why she stood and waited for me in over an hour and under the rain, she smiled and said: “I knew that you would be sad if I went home. I know how you feel, my friend, I love you!”
Thank you for the rain that day. If it did not come, I would not have known how nice Miracle was. If it did not come, I would not have known how lucky I was to have such a good friend by my side. And if it did not happen, I would not have had the chance to tell you this story about the most precious diamond in the whole wide world.
